Mittlerweile gibt es mehrere Open Source Alternativen zu Google Earth, wie z.B. Nasa World Wind Java SDK, ossimPlanet oder osgEarth. Dieser Vortrag soll eine Übersicht aktueller Open Source Virtual Globes bieten und einige Vorschläge zu erwünschten Funktionen liefern.

Thanks for mentioning WebGL Earth In your presentation.
The information in slides is not anymore valid - all of functionality is already implemented:
WebGL Earth: Eingeschränkter Virtual Globe
Try http://www.webglearth.com/ - and hold “Shift” for the free camera. The elevation is available in it’s first version at http://www.webglearth.com/beta/, but not all graphical drivers supports it in this moment (limits of WebGL implementation in web browsers today). Also we are going to use higher quality DTM by default for the official announcement.
